Portraits, to me, are photographs where I know the person.
I take many many photographs of strangers and I am I happy with them. I don’t know their names, where they come from, what baggage of life they have. If I was to stop and talk to them the photograph would become a portrait, to me, anyway.
I do like going around the NPG in London, thinking who's he, why they there, what’s he done. For the PC reading this that could have easily been a her. Please don’t email me!
